I'm using Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3 1600 type ram; I currently have two 4gb modules installed. Can I safely add another 4gb into one slot, using up 3 slots, or must I divide that 4 into 2gb modules and use all 4 slots? Is anything lost by doing this?

I've been getting BSODs lately and noticed my SATA port 1 is a little loose. Is there anything wrong with connecting my SSD to 2, and my dvd drive to say 5? Do I need to change anything in the BIOS after doing this? I only have a SSD and a DVD drive connected, and all of my ports are 6gbps. thanks

thanks. I got it open and suppose there's a possibility of a loose connection. I'll probably just replace the sata cable since I have an extra, and run that diagnostic. Hopefully that does it.

i'll check it out, I'm only using one SSD for everything. Otherwise could it be inserted into the wrong SATA port, or something I did while connecting it?

My new build (windows 8.1) has been running good, but at least once a month I get some weird crash that forces me to restart. Usually it's a BSOD then afterwards the message "Reboot and Select Proper boot device". But this last time it just crapped out and brought up the message 'No operating...

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'm also wondering how would I put in the regular screws that came with it, if I wanted a more secure fit? These screws are very short with wide threads, were they not designed to go in the front of the case?

alright, there's another cable attached to the 6+2, it's the same but says SLI on it. Is that what I need? so plug the 6+2 in, then just the 6 on the other one, if I understand.

My i/o shield contacts are meeting only about half my ports in a new build. It's some incompatiability with my case and motherboard, I think, because all the standoffs are correctly aligned. It concerns me beause my whole house is carpeted and I frequently shock things. See pics...
