News Nintendo details the Switch 2 in a Direct livestream

Many parents, including myself would not want a built in camera on the switch. If it has a camera, I would want a way to lock it out for young children. I would also want the microphone and party VOIP to have the ability to lock out as well, except for APPROVED friends. Too many old creeps on...

Question Is there a way to permanently set an IP address to an USB ethernet adapter?

This sounds like the winner right here. Zero cost too.

That pricing is getting crazy for parents. Especially if they have multiple kids.

Question Is there a way to permanently set an IP address to an USB ethernet adapter?

I've had problems with this in the past, specifically with USB-to-Serial com port adapters. You set it up and assign the com port as com port 1 (a program we use requires it to be 1). It worked most times, but some times it would reinstall the driver or whatever, especially if you used a...

News Nintendo details the Switch 2 in a Direct livestream

Hopefully they added bluetooth headphone support this time, it was a huge oversight on the last switch.

Question Is there a way to permanently set an IP address to an USB ethernet adapter?

You can use a portable router like the GLi.Net routers to do this: https://www.amazon.com/GL-iNet-GL-SFT1200-Secure-Travel-Router/dp/B09N72FMH5 For example if the compressor is set to 192.168.100.1: Set Router address to 192.168.100.10 Set DHCP Range to 192.168.100.150 to 192.168.100.200 Then...

News Game developers urge Nvidia RTX 30 and 40 series owners rollback to December 2024 driver after recent RTX 50-centric release issues

I didn't have any driver issues with my last several AMD cards. I did have an issue with 3060 card, it was solved by Nvidia 1 patch later. I'm currently using a 4080 super and have had issues since the 50 series launch. It's not 15 years of history and that's people's point. Nvidia users...

News Game developers urge Nvidia RTX 30 and 40 series owners rollback to December 2024 driver after recent RTX 50-centric release issues

I had issues with my 4080 Super and had to revert my drivers back. It would boot up to windows then go to black screen or sometimes after bootup it would be really sluggish and I would have to restart. Tried DDU and reinstall, but that didn't change things. So I had to revert.

Question How to actually get 1gig download speed ?

You need to upgrade to a modern fully certified docsis 3.1 modem. Comcast uploads speed profiles to your modem, many of these modems don't have a proper profile to get the full speed profile. It may have been certified years ago for 800mbps, but in my experience, the profiles don't always work...

Question Why can business/Conferencing System webcams be so expensive? Also, advice for what camera to use for twitch/youtube?

Personally I would get a Mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. Make sure the firmware is new enough to allow for webcam mode when plugged into USB. Then get a prime lens with a fast aperture. Then buy a bunch of lights for your room. All-together can be done for less than $500 total for...

Question Remotely access a local LED board Wi-Fi

Can the sign software run on Linux? If it does, you can install tailscale on your PI and connect that to your business network. Then use a VNC client to log into the pi and update the sign. if it only runs on windows, you can get a small X86 box like the Zimaboard and install tailscale on...

Question Are DSLR cameras good for both pictures and short videos, and which one right now is the goat ?

Sony literally did when they brought in Eye-AF in 2014 and brought machine learning based subject detection in 2017. They innovated the best features that transitioned the camera industry to mirrorless. I never said Canon didn't innovate in the last 5 years. In fact, I said I almost...

Question Are DSLR cameras good for both pictures and short videos, and which one right now is the goat ?

I don't agree here. Sony innovated mirrorless cameras. You can thank Sony for how good mirrorless camera's are today, they ate so much into Canon and Nikon's sales that they are now all in on mirrorless. I had all Canon for years and a bunch of EF lenses. But Canon's sensor technology was...

    Question Network / NAS Speed

If these are files that everyone is accessing in/out regularly, a NAS that size likely has the ability to add an SSD cache drive. That would speed it up immensely for files that everyone is touching regularly. Even for storage, if the files don't exceed the cache size, it should allow for...
