    serial character display help

Opening it up hasn't helped so much yet, I've identified most of the larger chips, those being a z180 cpu, it's memory and storage, and a logic converter. I looked at the uart section of the z180's manual and found little useful information as it is very configurable, it could still be...

    serial character display help

Unfortunately I can not. Would it be possible to send raw data to it to see how it reacts to different combinations of data rates, start/stop bits, etc. Also note that I run Debian Linux, so any software will have to be compatible.

    serial character display help

@Alabalcho I have confirmed that it is rs-232 compliant and not ttl, but that is enough for tonight. If you have anything else you can tell me I would be glad to hear it.

    Check HDD voltage

Question, how is the hdd getting power if the connector broke in it? Did you take some tweasers and pull out the broken connector and plug in a different one or what? A sata connector has 3 voltages, 12v, 5v, and 3.3v, as long as your power supply isn't a peace of fire hazard crap your hdd...

$200-$300 GPU suggestion for a new build

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-video-card-r9290xedfd Here is a good card at the top of your budget. PSU- evga makes good psu's for those on a budget.

    is this a good build?

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/6tnqf7 How's this? I added a mobo (there don't seem to be many LGA1155 boards for sale) upped the power supply, and switched the graphics card to a cheaper r9 390 (which should be slightly better than the 290x) and marked what was purchased.

New Display or water cooled graphics card

I cannot find any of the Korean monitors, any model and any brand. According to pcpartpicker.com none of them are being stocked (that it knows) exept lg (which is the only Korean brand that does not overclock well) it seems odd, I wonder if there is a legitimate reason for this.
