Best Graphics Cards For The Money: January 2012 (Archive)

I'm not a fan boy as I have rigs with AMD and Nvidia. I thought that the 770 outperformed the 280X in most benchmarks when it came to average frame rate? AMD optimized games like Battlefield 4 were much closer and favored AMD, but Nvidia wasn't too far off. Games like Bioshock and Crysis...

Experiment: Can Adding RAM Improve Your SSD's Endurance?

This article is sorely lacking more information. I do appreciate the different types of articles you guys have been adding lately but 4GB to 16GB is a big jump. As others have mentioned, can we see 8GB and 32GB tests, and more than 3 different programs? Thanks!

Sapphire 7970 Ghz or ASUS GTX 770?

I'm totally loving my switch to Intel/NVidia right now. I've been an AMD fan since the Athlons whooped Intel. It came to a point though where an Ivy bridge offered a lot more. I stuck with AMD GPUs all the way to an AMD 7950 from XFX. I just switched to the GTX 770 and couldn't be happier...

[Laptop] Super High End Laptop to last 3-5y.

If you want to look at it that way it's fine. It's definitely not the best bang for your buck. They keyboard feels nicer, the hinges are more sturdy, etc. I work at a place where we sell MSI gaming laptops, ASUS ROG series, and the Alienware. I wouldn't trade my Alienware in for anything...

Sapphire 7970 Ghz or ASUS GTX 770?

I went with the GTX 770 for driver support. The 7970GHz has a little more potential, especially with AA and multi-screen. For a 1080P the 770 is extremely powerful. I went from an XFX 7950 to the GTX 770 and I was pretty blown away.

The Core i7-4770K Review: Haswell Is Faster; Desktop Enthusiasts Yawn

redeemer10% increase over Sandy Bridge is a myth, too much heat too little gains Sandy Bridge is still superior i5 and i7 hitting 5.0 Ghz with air cooling something that is impossible on Ivy Bridge. Myth? Every bench shows higher performance per clock when comparing Sandy vs. Ivy bridge. What...

The GeForce GTX 770 Review: Calling In A Hit On Radeon HD 7970?

I totally understand where you're coming from. I know down the road better cars will come out, they always do. Nvidia made same very minor changes to the 700 series so far so it lets them continue to focus on the next gen card to combat AMD. All I'm saying is that faster performance for a...

The GeForce GTX 770 Review: Calling In A Hit On Radeon HD 7970?

I wonder why so many people are hating on this card. I agree that they could have done more and come up with new architecture. With the companies selling a lot less than they used to, AMD and Nvidia slowed down R&D to stay more profitable. This is completely acceptable, especially because...

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 WindForce Spotted

I bought this exact one! I was upset that a 4GB model showed up only a couple hours later. I couldn't buy it anyway because it was on a sold out status from the get go. Newegg listed only 2GB models so I thought for the money, Gigabyte offered the best bang for your buck. A true dual slot...

    Nvidia Titan Battlefield 3

It sounds like it's working correctly now though. Might be a placebo effect. Did your temps drop quite a bit after you followed the steps we suggested?

    Nvidia Titan Battlefield 3

Have you tried lowering the overclock and enabling vsync to see if that solves the problem as well?

New Port on Xbox One Controller Makes it Incompatible with Current Gaming Headsets

What about the Steam Box? I'm honestly all for the idea of it because it will attract a larger audience to standard PC hardware. I will still have my own rigs but if hundreds of thousands more people are playing on Steam then more developers will build games for it and we all win. It will...

    Nvidia Titan Battlefield 3

FYI: Furmark burn-ins peg the Titan at 80C so you shouldn't be hitting 90 on a game. Another site (LINK) showed the card sitting at 67C at load, and 76C overclocked.

    Nvidia Titan Battlefield 3

So you may be experiencing throttling. 91C is pretty damn hot and not what the Titan typically operates at. That may be your problem. Even if it isn't you want to keep those temps under 80. That was from AnandTech. Try lowering your overclock or increase the cooling capacity of your case.
