    Question regarding motherboard expenditure

    You're most welcome.

I ordered a pc with an amd fx 4300 and nvidia gtx 960, is this good enough for 1080p gaming with high settings?

The FX-4300 is the weakest point, and will struggle on newer CPU hungry games like Witcher 3. Example of the 4300 averaging around 30 FPS on a mixture of med & high: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMKd30IZoSg -During the most taxing moments of the game the FPS would drop enough to require...

You'll probably be closer to low - medium settings to maintain descent FPS at 1080p. You'll certainly be able to play the most recent games with those components, just probably not at high settings. Specific FPS and settings will vary depending upon which exact game title you're playing.

    Question regarding motherboard expenditure

No problem at all, please feel free to ask anything you need clarification on, we're happy to help! :) VRAM is totally seperate and isn't limited by the motherboard one way or the other, that is a static amount of memory that comes with a specific graphics card.

I need to update my bios? (new CPU)

Very good CPU, passable motherboard. I'm not crazy about MSI motherboards, but the Z97 MATE has gotten very solid reviews and should be a fine pair with the i5-4590 (especially if you got it at a good price ;)).

    Question regarding motherboard expenditure

Two good places to start: 1) Make sure it works with the CPU and the rest of the hardware you want to use. This includes socket type for the CPU, graphics card support, and memory support 2) Do you want to overclock (no, in your case)? If not, there is usually a lower chipset to choose from...

I need to update my bios? (new CPU)

Hello deewfrank, No, you shouldn't need to update the BIOS on the Z97 to install and use the new CPU.

    Max graphics allowed

Hello Mr-lovli, Sure, it's technically possible to stack up to 4 on higher-end motherboards: Obviously this requires an extrememly good PSU, motherboard, and processor as well, not to mention very well thought out cooling. Honestly though there isn't a game you could play right now that...

Slight coil whine from PSU that is not under load

It isn't unheard of to have a slight coil whine, even with high quality units like the G2. If it is distracting you could probably RMA it for a replacement, but other than annoying it isn't anything to worry about.

    Where are my SATA cables?

No worries, best of luck with the rest of the building! ;)

    Z190-A compatible with AMD R9 390

Hello soakka, The Z170-A fully supports the R9 390. The card will fit OVER the white heatsink on the lower right hand side that you're probably worrying about. Example of a build onto a Z170-A, look at the 1:19:00 minute mark for the card installation. Uses the same size card as the R9 390...

    Where are my SATA cables?

Hello Minecarrot, Yes, your drives need the broader SATA power cables AND the thinner SATA data cables plugged in. The power cables run directly from your power supply, the data cables should have come with your motherboard and run directly from the drive to the motherboard. Example of what...

Do you think my PC needs upgrading?

Yes, I would consider upgrading the PSU vital before adding a high-end card like the R9 390. There are essentially NO professional reviews of your PSU (a very bad sign), but all discussions about it on professional review sites like Johnny Guru identify it as HEC PCB and HEC's performance...
