    Problem solved! I had a suspicion it might be a BIOS issue, after updating the firmware the screen is now working, thanks ColGeek for your help. Cheers

    Thanks but yes, I have tried that. The Laptop screen is greyed out and each option has the same result - picture only on the external monitor
