[SOLVED] WD Red NasWare 3.0 data protection in case of power loss?

I know. Isn't firmware usually stored on the platters? There's a link to the page in my very first post. It's amazing to me how WD and other major consumer HDD manufacturers intentionally obscure detailed specs of their products. It just shows they either have something to hide or their...

[SOLVED] WD Red NasWare 3.0 data protection in case of power loss?

Thanks for linking the HDDGuru thread. I think I'll post this question there , maybe someone over at a forum of HDD experts knows exactly what's up.

[SOLVED] WD Red NasWare 3.0 data protection in case of power loss?

I don't know where the motor connector is supposed to be so I can't see those capacitors. Do you know the capacity of these capacitors? If this HDD doesn't use supercapacitors to flush it's cache then do you have any alternate theories on how the firmware 'command completion' on power loss is...

[SOLVED] WD Red NasWare 3.0 data protection in case of power loss?

The model number of the drive I'm considering is WD40EFRX . It's pretty hard to get a hold of an average WD phone representative who knows less about tech than the average highschooler, it would be pretty near impossible to get a hold of a WD engineer unless you have sources inside the industry.

[SOLVED] WD Red NasWare 3.0 data protection in case of power loss?

WD's page on NasWare 3.0 states the following: I'm not sure how firmware alone could accomplish this. Do WD Reds have super caps or some other circuitry to ensure command completion after power loss? Do the WD Reds actually protect your data in case of a power loss or is this just a fancy...

    Question Internal HDD for gaming

I like to keep all my favourite games installed so I can play any game whenever I want. As an example, just my Skyrim SE with mods is over a 100 GB, a 1TB SSD is just not going to be enough.

    Question Internal HDD for gaming

Ironwolf Pro is a little out of my price range, and it isn't built for what I want to do so I don't wanna go that route. According to Seagate's Spec Sheet, their drives are now based on TGMR recording technology. I can't find much information on TGMR, does it have the same drawbacks as SMR? On...

    Question Internal HDD for gaming

Okay, so it's been a while since I bought an internal HDD (last time was 2010, I think). I've been playing my games from an SSD up until now but games are getting too big and larger SSDs are still too expensive. Anyway, I decided to buy a 4TB internal HDD for gaming and I thought it would be...

    How is GPU length measured?

It seems this whole discussion was moot anyway. I simply can't find a GTX 1050 in the price I'm willing to pay for it. I guess I have no choice but to wait for Volta. Thank you darkbreeze for helping me through this.

    How is GPU length measured?

Here are a few pics from the side angle. Note that the DIMM slots (labelled 1,2,3,4) won't obstruct the card if it doesn't have a backplate.

    How is GPU length measured?

Okay, here are some pics with the GPU installed And here's some without the GPU installed

    How is GPU length measured?

The case can hold up to a 9" card before it runs into the HDD cage. Would it help if I posted pictures of the motherboard? I think the SATA ports should still be usable even if they a covered by the GPU if I get L-shaped cables. I'll post pictures as soon as I get home.

    How is GPU length measured?

There's a jumper switch and some SATA ports that are obstructing the card. I currently have a 7 inch GPU installed in there and it works without any problems which is the reason I think a 7 inch GTX 1050 should be fine. But it'll be a tight fit and I want to make absolutely sure that the shroud...

    How is GPU length measured?

I have a pre-built Dell Optiplex 7010 and the tech manual for this PC states that the maximum card length for the PCI-E 16x slot is 6.6 inches but it can hold upto a 7 inch GPU in practice. Now, I'm looking to buy a MSI GTX 1050 and the specs state it's length is about 7 inches. The problem is...
