Did PSU fry my whole PC?

I got done playing some GTAV and was talking to my friends on steam when my PC turned itself off unexpectedly. I initially thought a mains switch had flipped and thats why it went off as its happened once before. Couldn't get PC to turn on after that, started breadboarding, removed all ram and...

[UK] How much should I charge for these services

So I performed some maintenance on someones laptop the other day but a price point was never discussed. I formatted the computer and installed a clean copy of windows 7, removing the bloatware from the laptop. set up a couple of malware programs, configured msconfig to only open the essential...

    £300 Budget witcher 3 PC?

The guys in this thread also failed to mention that the sockets they chose are borderline obsolete and provide no good upgrade paths. If thats what the OP is aiming for then by all means go ahead. If I was looking for a console par experience I'd still go with something I mentioned in my OP...

    £300 Budget witcher 3 PC?

you cant build a new PC for that price, recommend you go to your local CEX and see what they have in stock. Personally, I'd get an old i5 and pair it with a used GTX760 (or a similar gpu in that category) and give it 4GB ram. thats all you need for a console par experience. Here, check out...

    New Low Profile Graphics Card

if the GT740 comes in a 4GB low profile variant then go for it. An AMD equivalent would be the R7250x but that only goes up to a maximum of 2GB. The 270x however goes up to 4GB but wont fit in your case

    graphics card compare

Your build is fine. It depends really, what kind of cooler does the other one have? The tri x oc also comes over clocked out of the box and will run at lower temperatures. At that price point, have you considered a r9 390? They run a bit cooler than the 290s

    New Low Profile Graphics Card

Your requirents from the graphic card put you in an awkward spot You could look for a GTX750ti 4GB version but this will not be low profile The gtx970 gigabyte or Asus mini This is way above your price range. Maybe wait for the fury nano, that's a low profile GPU but again, it will be out...

    Base Clock VS Boost Clock

Only one way to find out mate, do it. However, the 980ti at stock should be a lot faster than the 980.

Buying a new GPU... which are quieter?

+1 for the EVGA SC 970, using one now. - Coil whine isnt loud enough to warrant skipping the 970 - The reference model graphic cards are the loudest (Avoid those) - Most of 970 series graphics cards are designed to run with the fans off, (until the temperature reaches 65c at which point the...
