Ok, I've rebuilt the system with just the cpu, cpu cooler, psu, RAM and a fresh speaker. No output from speaker when turning the system on. And the same result if I turn it on without RAM. However the cooler does spin up

None, I'm going to try another speaker to see if that's the issue

I have 4 2gb sticks, which I have tried in each slot one at a time to no avail.

Everything is wired up correctly as far as I can tell (both the 24 pin and 8 pin are connected to the motherboard, the fans are plugged in correctly). Upon turning on the fans spin up as does the hard drive if connected but no beep codes are emitted and no display outputed.

XUM DDR3, at 1333MHz. Yes I do have a speaker connected and there are no beep codes.

Power supply was bought new and works well enough to power the board at least to the extent of fans and LEDs, it also seems to power up the GPU no problem. I wondered about the power since seeing this post...
