My friend actually run into the exact same problem, his main boot drive is 970 evo and would boot in 14 seconds or so, but with HDD in it would take almost 10 mins (old HDD) a lot more extreme than what you've been experiencing but sounds like the same issue. I have yet to fully understand why...

Have you checked your resolution scale slider? I get 77 min, 86 ave, 102 max, at 2k (2560 x 1440) on a GTX 1080 @ 2025Mhz 1:1 resolution scale. Resolution scale is the slider at the bottom of the vsync setting page.

It's really not necessary to upgrade the PSU, A pump will never exceed 50W (most pumps will be in the ~20W region), so that leaves 500 for the rest. As derekullo has pointed out the system without the graphics card is 169W, so total is ~220W, leaving 330W, more than enough.

Well then it has to be the graphics card i'm sorry to say. All the visual artefacts you describe and the failure to operate in another system is indicative of GPU failure, can't say what exactly but it's irreparable.

So you've got windows installed on an SSD which you can boot into, install stuff on and you navigate directories via file explorer? And only your storage drive is playing up? The title of the post is a little misleading then. None the less, first thing is to run dskchk.

Ok so I seem to have fixed the problem, I used the windows 10 Network Reset function and it seems to have done the trick. Not entirely sure what actually happens when you click that, but it would be useful to know for anyone on earlier windows versions if someone here knows.
