underclocked gives the same performance, gpu 950 mhz and memory 1075 mhz vs stock 1000 mhz and 1125mhz. Is it possible that the gpu gets not enough power?

when you start up your pc, open the explorer. Then go to your cd drive and right click, choose open in new window. Now you should be looking at the files which are on the cd. In this list of files there should be a file called 'setup' now right click on this file and choose for properties...

The 6 pin power connector is directly connected from the PSU. I disabled all but two cores and it seems they are averaging out at 50% cpu usage. fps is a bit lower but i guess that is cause of windowd mode. http://i.imgur.com/cgZYs.jpg

I'm a big fan of the mx518. It should fall right in your price range and it also has a nice grip. Only thing is that it is quite old already, so maybe you are looking for something more recent.

I assume you try to install on windows 7? I suggest to open the cd with explorer and execute the setup in windows xp compatibility mode. Good luck!
