Thanks for the help, I decided to go with a 24" @ 144hz in 1080p in the end. Tough choice but opted for the gameplay side over the visuals. And also I can see how I like and rate 144hz as by the time I upgrade again there could be cheaper 1440p 144hz in 27"! :D

I have just been having a look at whats about and Im guessing that 27" would be the 'sweet spot' for 1440p resolution? Seem to be the main ones I am finding. Not sure if you have used both 1080p and 1440p but would you say a jump to: 144hz @ 1080p on a 24" monitor OR 60hz @ 1440p on a 27"...
