Thanks for the response! Speed fan displays 242*c which is obviously wrong. AMD really made it tricky to read temps on these kaveri chips. I looked at the data sheet and the cpu does indeed have a temp sensor used ONLY for PROCHOT and Thermal trip, so maybe it's possible that hw monitor sees...
