Review Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 review: $549 price and performance look decent on paper

Just as a curiosity, in terms of die size, RTX 5090 is 750 mm2, while RTX 2080 Ti was 754 mm2, 250 W TDP back in 2018, on a 12 nm process, priced at 999 USD (equivalent to about 1,299 inflation adjusted USD in 2025). Titan V was 815 mm2, 250W TDP, on a 12nm process in 2017, priced at 2,999 USD...

Question Comparison question on RTX graphics cards

A quick ballpark reference is the GPU hierarchy chart here at Toms: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html Look at the resolution you play at, then check the chart for the GPUs and how they rank. You can see that 3070 ranks a good bit higher than 4060. In terms of...

Question Is there a 4K 32 inch TV that is not a smart TV piled with apps and nonsense?

I install various TV models at work, and I always configure them to be "not smart". Not only don't I configure the network options (wired or wireless), but I also remove all the apps and shortcuts from the main menu, on models that allow it. With Samsung for example, you can uninstall most apps...

Info Nvidia GPU list with specs from GTX 1060 to RTX 5090 in a small table.

I just wanted to see the last few generations of Nvidia GPUs in a table, with certain specs that I was interested in. Someone else might find this useful also. It's missing 16xx series and some other older variants. A lot of the data was copy-pasted from Techpowerup, some from Nvidia's own website.

AMD RX 7600 XT vs RX 6750 XT GPU faceoff: Two $300 AMD cards duke it out for mainstream supremacy

The point is that if you are interested in buying a GPU in the 300 dollars range, then after reading this article, you are better informed about two available choices in that price category.

News World's first chip-based 3D printer is smaller than a coin — benefits from having no moving parts

I've learned a lot from this news article, and from this thread of comments. I didn't know you could "3D scan broken bones in an operating theatre, I thought you'd need an x-ray or CT machine for that. Also I didn't know you can make windows out of concrete, iron or wood. No one is talking about...

News Seasonic's latest big and silent 1,600W PSU gets a quieter 120mm Noctua fan upgrade

It's great to see that finally they've put in a Noctua in an official capacity into a power supply. The only non-Noctua fan in my current PC is the one in the Seasonic PSU, I wish they sold lower end Seasonic models with Noctuas. I've gone all Noctua over the years, having used dozens of fans of...

RTX 4070 vs RX 7900 GRE faceoff: Which mainstream graphics card is better?

Very well said. I wish everyone on the internet would think as sensibly as this.

RTX 4070 vs RX 7900 GRE faceoff: Which mainstream graphics card is better?

Very well put Jarred, and thank you for clarifying the DLSS/FSR points as well. I would be of the same vein that not using DLSS 2 if it's an option just doesn't make sense. Until the AMD feature and software set improves, I can't see any viable alternatives to NVIDIA for the next couple of years...

RTX 4070 vs RX 7900 GRE faceoff: Which mainstream graphics card is better?

I thought the article was interesting and fair. Yes, AMD wins in rasterization by a decent margin, but not all gamers are the same. Personally I value ray-tracing highly, and appreciate good power/performance ratio. Also for me, NVIDIA software features are a must these days, I use my gaming PC...

News Ryzen 7 7800X3D Smashes Core i9-14900K in Factorio Gaming Benchmark

I don't understand why it seems to be hard for many people to accept that the X3D chips excel in some workloads and are pretty bad in others. So what if it's faster than Intel's greatest in a couple of games, or that it sucks in some workloads? No one is forced to buy one! And no one is forced...

Question Should i buy an RTX 3060 Ti ?

For all *practical* purposes, 8GB VRAM will be enough for the next couple of years for the vast majority of games. I wouldn't buy an 8GB card now and expect it to last for very long at max details. But then again, I don't think it makes sense in any case to buy a GPU and expect it to last well...
