Strange issue with controller causing lag

I think I've sorted it: I uninstalled the joystick's driver and now there is no slowdown - hopefully that's the end of this annoyance with all games now! I didn't think removing the driver altogether would help, but seems it did!

Strange issue with controller causing lag

I've recently come back to my combat flight sims because I've just upgraded to the following specs (only the GPU remains from the older config; it's running all my games fine). New Specs: Gigabyte Z87-DS3H, CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K 3.40ghz, GPU: AMD HD 6850 1GB, RAM: 8Gb Corsair DDR3 1866mhz...

    Issue with booting from DVD.

I was able to use the keyboard in the BIOS so surely that means it's working fine? Why won't it register the key press when I want to boot from a disc then? Damn, this is annoying!

    Issue with booting from DVD.

I've been reading that DVDs connected to SATA 3 won't work properly outside Windows - is there any truth to this? If so, I might have a bit of a problem because I cannot see any SATA 2 on my motherboard diagram. I saw this in the BIOS though: There is no mention of the DVD drive in that...

    Issue with booting from DVD.

I'm not sure - I'll have to check which ports are USB 2.0 - some are 3.0. Will that make a difference then? The keyboard was connected to a USB PCI card; pretty sure it's USB 2.0 - I've now reconnected it to one of the motherboard's actual 2.0 ports.

New components up and running; problem with WiFi card

From what I can see, my new components are up and running - everything seems OK apart from the wireless card: TP-LINK TL-WDN4800 N900 Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Adapter The system appears to be recognising it: the device comes up in device manager so it must be properly seated but when I...

Best RAM for my mobo/CPU combination

OK, everything's ordered now; I got the 212 Evo and a PCI Wireless card from Amazon instead.

Any point trying to sell my old components?

Another option is to keep the components and use them towards a PC for my nephew (he's got a crappy laptop right now and would be more than happy with my current specs). I know that putting the GPU/mobo in an anti static bag and in a box in a safe place is the way to go, but what about the CPU...
