Thanks for all the replies guys. TBH I think the Powercolor card just wasn't up to scratch. 70 Watts in idle does sound kinda ridiculous though, lol. Funnily enough it's not the 4870's power I was interested in. I bought it used years later for cheap. Guess I was kinda asking for trouble...

That's kinda of what I was thinking. It wouldn't have to be completely fanless, just on the level of the other components. Surely it can't be that difficult. Stock CPU fans get a bad rep, but they're way better than the graphics cards I've had.
