I'm having the same problem with my XFX R9 295x2 but I'm using a DVI to HDMI and am only showing a maximum option of 1080p. My Nvidia cards (780's and 780Ti's) recognise all resolutions, up to and including, 4k @60hz using the same lead.

Recent (the last few months) 970's are a full 4gb, I've read. The G1 Gaming SOC is fantastic.

I bought an LG49UB850V eventually @-lone-. It is brilliant and I'll never go back to 1080p. The best £600 I've spent - also the best computer component I've bought! I almost bought the Panasonic but bought a pair of 970's with money saved. I still get 4.4.4 and 60hz. BTW 780Ti gives 60hz also.
