Unexpected shudowns when running games (but only in Windows)

Confirmed power supply, any idea why it ran fine in Linux though?

Unexpected shudowns when running games (but only in Windows)

I've narrowed it down and It's highly unlikely it was the PSU. It's either a memory socket or a memory stick in my system that's malfunctioning (which would explain why I only get errors in windows, as I'm pretty sure my Kernel in Linux supported memory mapping in case of a bad address. (sorry...

Unexpected shudowns when running games (but only in Windows)

For $150 there are Corsair and ECGA 700w to 1000w, for less than $120 there are units with A. less reviews and B. low ratings, and they don't support as many outputs as I use on my current PSU, albeit said models there are only 700w. I never turn of this computer and I need it on almost 24/7 so...

Unexpected shudowns when running games (but only in Windows)

If I have to replace my power supply to use windows I'll just skip out on Windows; it's atleast $150 for a (good) power supply over 600w here right now and I've already used a 600w and it can't power the system (and it was one of the recommended OEM good ones, and no the psu wasn't dead)...

Unexpected shudowns when running games (but only in Windows)

I've used a 600w PSU and it doesn't cut it. I'm not sure how much power I'm drawing and I don't have a Kill-a-watt meter to measure my power draw. If it was the power supply that doesn't explain why only windows fails in this regard and Linux can run the same program/game in OpenGL (or in Source...

Unexpected shudowns when running games (but only in Windows)

The system appears as if the plug was pulled, but all the USB ports are still powered. It won't turn on until the switch on the power supply is turned off until the power is drained then set back to on. This only happens in Windows. I've never experienced this in Linux and I do far more...

Unexpected shudowns when running games (but only in Windows)

I've experienced shut downs in Windows for around 6 months, albeit for the last month I've used GNU/Linux and haven't had anything similar to this problem. Any time my computer is running Windows (tested Vista, 7, 8.1) and I'm running a game (full screen or windowed, borderless, OpenGL or...

Powering a slim SATA odd with USB and connect data with eSATA?

I've looked around and I can't quite find what I'm looking for (or if it's possible at all). Basically I want to hook a slim SATA ODD (from an old enclosure that the USB port snapped off of) and use an eSATA to SATA adapter to connect it to my computer, but because I don't have powered eSATA (or...

    Cooling an FX-9370

Unfortunately I'm not sure I have the receipt to my old H80i, although if I do I will contact them over the failure of said unit

    Cooling an FX-9370

On Thursday I found out my pump had in fact died after merely 15 months. I have bought a replacement and my system has enjoyed temperatures just above 40C for the past two days of use. I'm still looking into the airflow, but I'm sure adding a fan in my ODD drive bays should provide enough...

    Cooling an FX-9370

I've moved the H80i checking the fans before and after I replaced the motherboard, I doubt it's the fans themselves though because they're up to 2200-2300 RPM all the time, so I doubt it's installed incorrectly. The power connector is fine too, nothing wrong with it either unless there is a...

    Cooling an FX-9370

I can't think of any other issue other than the possibility of the pump in the H80i being damaged because it feels on-off sometimes (ie one of the pipes is really hot while the other is cold sometimes when I check it, other times both are fine and the second pipe is warmer)

    Cooling an FX-9370

Forgot about the motherboard. added it to the OP. I wasn't told what m CPU was when I bought the case, and I had no idea what the dimensions for my graphics card were at the time. The case barely fits my graphics card and it barely fits my hard drives when full. Frankly I'm not surprised the...

    Cooling an FX-9370

In the past year I've owned this CPU I've replaced it's motherboard and power supply to support it's TDP (I was not the one to choose any of the parts in the first place and I regret not enforcing that but that's behind me). The cooler I have attached to the system now is an H80i with both push...
