Radio Shack May Be Filing For Bankruptcy

Considering they pulled out of Canada years ago (pretty much the same way Target is currently doing), I'm surprised they lasted this long in the U.S. Here in Canada Radio Shack was replaced by another chain, which still charges more for their items than other stores, but at least they...

Report: Windows 8.1 Finally Surpasses Windows XP

I agree with that. Per version numbers, it's either they separate the different OSX versions, or they put all the Windows versions with the same number into one entity which would make all versions since Vista as one entity (all of them being Windows 6.*).

Ubisoft Recommends Intel Core i7-3770, Nvidia GTX 780 For Assassin's Creed Unity

These specs and they can't make it at more than 30fps? This is either BS or lazy programming. One more reason to never buy a Ubisoft game again.

G.Skill's Phoenix Blade SSD Reads And Writes At 2 GB/s

From what I've seen it's already available on some websites such as NCIX.

MasterCard Working On Contactless Payment Card

The only problem is that as long as biometrics are as hackable as they are right now, I don't think they should be used as a primary needs of unlocking something. Even on iPhones they were able to unlock them with a copy of the fingerprint, or even without.

5 Million Google Passwords Show Up On Russian Forums

You don't even need that if you want to go with the phone choice. You can get a prepaid phone for $100 with prepaid cards for $10 a month that you can use on unlimited texting. Then again you don't need a cellphone at all. If you want you can check the box for voice calling instead of the...

Confirmed: Asus OC Socket Does Not Void Warranty

I'm kind of inclined to agree with your comment here. I've used Asus products for years, and while my 7 year old Asus laptop still is running like new (one of the first core 2s), I had to get rid of my ROG laptop wich I would constantly repair, because in Canada they don't pay for shipping and...

Apple to Improve Security Following Celeb Selfie Thefts

Apple is late compared to the others, as usual. MS and Google had the "two factor" verification for years. It's also pretty easy to say that most of it was social engineering, it's been the most vulnerable way of getting information for a long time, as anyone in the security field knows.

Improved CryptoLocker Clone "Cryptowall" Has Locked Over Half A Million PCs, 5 Billion Files

Now my opinions are the same as palladin9479. Probably the most accurate post here so far. What I want to add though is that with whatever OS you use, if you open the door to malware, than it is your fault. From experience in the IT field I can say that most malware that comes in a computer...

Windows 8.1 cannot connect to Internet, even though browsers work

If you go into your internet settings, is everything set to get the ip and dns automatically?

Have you tried restarting your computer? These types of bugs can sometimes be solved this way.

Netflix Officially Petitions Against Comcast, TWC Merger

Canada has a shared infrastructure as Bell, Rogers and Telus share their infrastructure for most of the internet and cell traffic. It's only at the end point that the infrastructure is theirs (DSL/Fiber/Cable). They save money this way, yet, we still have some of the highest prices in the world...

Norton Cuts Antivirus Product Line from Nine to One

Still won't use it. Never detects anything on the computer of people that I know that have Norton. There are far better antiviruses out there.
