    This One or That One?

Battlefield 1, Crysis 3, Dishonored 2 (when they patch the PC port so it works)... mostly FPS. I'm good with FPS of 30 with cranked settings but certainly would like more like 60. I do really like that Asus - but the card. What to do about the card.

    This One or That One?

I have a cheapo 27" HD and I use it all day for work and for gaming. It's fine for me, I don't notice a lot of pixelation. I'd like to move up to a 2K but I do not think my Geforce GTX 960 would be able to push it enough for me to get good framerates for gaming. Can't afford to get a new vid...

Help Me Identify The Mystery Noise Driving Me Batty

Just a heads up on this thread. Since moving and putting my machine out in the open with good airflow and off the floor ZERO NOISE and I still havent put in the new cooler yet. Yes, I will (I promise) but the issue was very clearly heat and dust in the old location. Eww.

Help Me Identify The Mystery Noise Driving Me Batty

Thanks WildCard. Are the heat sensors located within the chip itself? Wonder if the chip has a fault. Dunno... but the new HSF goes in today so I'll post an update later today! :-)

Help Me Identify The Mystery Noise Driving Me Batty

Thanks for the reply Harrison. Its not a squeaking, definitely a fan increasing and decreasing in speed. Random changes in RPM at totally random times, the only constant being it does it more when under load while gaming.

Help Me Identify The Mystery Noise Driving Me Batty

Thanks for the advice and link. If the fan noise that's randomly going up and down is the CPU cooler fan, why is the controller telling it to do so? The time between fan speed changes are anywhere from a half a second to a few minutes and it is totally random. Just wondering.

Help Me Identify The Mystery Noise Driving Me Batty

K it's here and going in this weekend. Not taking the MB out (access to back of board on the great Fractal case) and a second pair of hands is available. :-) Been awhile since I've cleaned the paste off a CPU and repasted. Advice?

Help Me Identify The Mystery Noise Driving Me Batty

Thanks for the response. I RMAed this card for a replacement already. EVGA tested the old card and it passed, no issues. No cords in the way. I'm searching youtube to see if I can find a recording of the infamous "coil whine". I think it's either that or the stock cooler fan bouncing up and...

Help Me Identify The Mystery Noise Driving Me Batty

Specs below. Noise is random fan like noise that randomly, definitely randomly, rises and falls. I don't know if it's the famous "whine" from the VGA, but I know it's not the fans themselves because when I crank the fans using the EVGA Precision X software I can hear the fans themselves and...

Giga Z97X1 mobo - game crashed, restart, no sound!

K here's more. If I run the CD that came with the board and contains the Creative drivers... it stops because it says it can not find any hardware applicable to the installer. So... saying the hardware is ON the motherboard, would you agree this is a hardware issue or is there a chance it is...

Giga Z97X1 mobo - game crashed, restart, no sound!

Gigabyte Z97X1 Mobo. New build, all running perfectly for a month. Happily playing Deus Ex Human Revolution Directors Cut. Game froze. Had to kill the game with Task Manager. Restarted machine. NO SOUND. What!? Sound icon has a RED X over it and no longer recognized headphones plugged in...

EVGA GTX 960 SSC Fan - up and down and up and down and up and down and...

Drivers all and always up to date. Definitely not going to run MSI afterburner, been "afterburned" by that software a few times. Ill report back when I get X installed and running, though I'd rather not run it at all. Is it considered a necessary adjunct software for the EVGA cards to run at...
