    Upgrading my 4870 1GB

I agree. A 6950 or gtx 560 Ti will do you good. Amd is having a special where some of their cards come with a free copy of Deus Ex: Human Revolution which is a great game.

[Solved] A few questions about my new system

If you you get an HD 6950 2GB you could also consider flashing it to 6970 specs. However, that does carry some risk, but it's something to think about. I'm not a huge fan of Intel but you gotta admit the i5 2500k is a beast of an overclocker. If you can afford it, it is worth getting.

[Solved] A few questions about my new system

I'm in agreement with Moto. AMD has gotten a lot better with drivers and even crossfire has made great improvements with the HD 6000 series. Nvidia also has quite a few good offerings as well like the GTX 560 Ti.

How much is OC a 2500k worth for gamers

Honestly, the i5-2500k overclocks well even on the stock heatsink if I'm correct. You would be able to get a lot more out of it than 1.2 extra ghz from an overclock. The i3 isn't a bad choice but I think more an more games are actually starting to take advantage of 4 cores.

New System Build - What do you think?

Getting a larger SSD when you have the money for it is generally a good idea. Especially if you want those faster load times on games. It looks like you did pretty well here.

New System Build - What do you think?

With sandy bridge water cooling isn't really required to get a goo overclock out of the processor. Also, I believe you'll get better performance with two 6970's over 1 gtx 580.

Should I get i5-2500k or wait for bulldozer for my new build?

If you have have the time then I would recommend that you wait and see what Bulldozer has to offer. Even if it doesn't live up to Sandy Bridge standards it could still shake up the prices of Intel's processors.

    5850 Vs. 6870 Vs. 560 Vs. 560 Ti

I think the 560 Ti and the 6950 have comparable performance. Haven't looked at the benchmarks in a while though.

Willits: id's Old Style Just Doesn't Work Anymore

I love Mass Effect because of it's quality story and dialogue. It's something you don't get from games too often these days.

Nvidia Graphics Chip Market Share Nosedives

@gtatar I have never had any of the problems with AMD/ATI drivers that you are describing. As for arguing which company's cards are superior, that is a discussion that could go on forever cause their hardware is often on par with each other and you would have a lot of trouble proving that AMD...

Power suplly requirement for Intel i5 2500k

The main thing that's gonna consume a lot of power in your system is the graphics card. Without one or with an entry level graphics card a 450 watt will probably be fine. With mid-range graphics cards you're gonna want at least 550w although it varies. High end cards will normally be fine with...

    Need help with HDMI

In the Catalyst control center panel there should be an option that says about Overscan. It's possible that you don't have it set to 100%. I can't remember where exactly it's located but it's in the catalyst options somewhere.

    Graphic card

Dang, you could buy a 500$ computer today that would still be a huge improvement over that thing.

    Radeon 6850

I personally have the Sapphire 6850 and it has worked very well for me. Like ShrkBay said I've heard good things about the Asus as well so that could be a good pick.
