[SOLVED] Can't boot from Windows 10 USB

Thanks, checking/remaking the USB is my next step. If that doesn't work I'll try reconnecting the SSD to my working PC and doing the install on it that way. EDIT: and yes, it turned out that the boot USB just wasn't working... remade it and the PC is up and running.

[SOLVED] Can't boot from Windows 10 USB

I decided to throw some older components into a case to have a basic second PC. Key components are: i5 3570K Asrock z77 pro3 Samsung 860 EVO 250GB SATA SSD The SSD has an outdated version of Win 10 on it, as it was previously my OS drive in my main build before I upgraded. When I started up...

Question Voltage on Ryzen 7 3700x

Thanks, really appreciate the input. I have prime 95 installed already so I'll look at manually setting/testing voltage and clock speed, although with Windows Balanced I'm getting about 4.1GHz under load with vcore at mid 1.3s anyway, while also having the benefit of low core speeds at idle...

Question Voltage on Ryzen 7 3700x

Thanks for that. Yeah, I'd followed all the steps in the AMD reddit thread except setting the vcore to 'normal' - the only options I have are auto, override, offset and 'AMD overclocking'. I'd also submitted the form. The only software i had running (other than Windows Defender) was CPU-Z and...

Question Voltage on Ryzen 7 3700x

Sorry to bump this thread but I've been having the same 'issue' with my 3600X & B450M Mortar. I've done plenty of reading on it, including about how certain monitoring software can put the CPU under load and give false idle readings. There do seem to be some mixed messages around this, though...

Boot device failure - SATA hard drive

Thanks but I just managed to resolve it myself (I've edited the OP). Feeling a bit sheepish now. Appreciate the responses tho! ;) I was using IDE but I've switched to AHCI. Seems to be working fine.

Boot device failure - SATA hard drive

Ok, I have an asrock z77 pro3 mobile and a seagate SATA 1TB hard drive. My boot preference in bios was set to my hdd ('SATA [model no]'), with second preference being my DVD drive (also 'SATA [model no]'). I just updated my bios to the latest version, following asrock's 'how to install'...

Best way to upgrade performance on a budget?

Damn. A 4gb card will cost me over $200, while the GTX 1060 6gb is about $360 :( Oh well, I'll have a look in the post-Christmas sales. Thanks everyone!

Best way to upgrade performance on a budget?

Thanks guys! I hadn't really thought about the card... so that's holding the system back, even if it's OC'd? Bear in mind that I'm on a budget. I'm also in Australia and components tend to cost a bit more here! (I'm assuming that upgrading the GPU should be in addition to, and not instead of...

Best way to upgrade performance on a budget?

Hi guys I'm looking to stretch my current system (3yrs old) a bit further in the hope of getting some reasonable performance when ME Andromeda comes out next year. The requirements for MEA haven't been released yet but my current build (below) sits around the minimum requirements for BF1 and I...

2 RAM slots not working / booting

Just an update - I ended up sending the motherboard back and received a replacement, which is now running dual channel RAM without any problems. So it was just a fault after all. Thanks for your help.

2 RAM slots not working / booting

Also, I've just had it suggested to me that I check for bent CPU socket pins. Hopefully that's not the case....

As in, pins on the mobo that go into the CPU? Hmm, I hadn't considered that. I'll take the CPU out and have a look if I can't fix the problem through the BIOS and Asrock aren't any help.

I don't think my CPU has traditional "pins" as such - just contacts. I was also pretty careful about putting it in correctly too. Thanks tho.
