    Post Your Biggest CPU Mistakes

I came here to say I bent and broke a pin on the motherboard of my first build by shoving the cpu in too hard. but now I feel like I have nothing to share lol

    Upgrade CPU or GPU?

a cpu upgrade would be better long term. But likely more expensive. Even something like an i3-6100 would give you much better performance.

I am looking into upgrading my pc and am wondering what gpu to get

The fx would definitely bottleneck a 980/980ti. What resolution will you be playing at?

    Help with choosing

380x is the better card, the 960 isnt made to have 4gb of vram with its 128 bit memory bus. that being said, you only have a 500watt psu and the 960 is a lot less power hungry and would be safer

    Good $600-$700 Build?

If you really like wasting your money go for it. Gaming performance wise the i3 is much better than the fx. Also I put this together before you replied so I am still going to post it PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/93LcJx Price breakdown by merchant...

    GTX 960 2GB Vs GTX 960 4GB or R9 380/380x 2GB Vs 4GB?

What he said ^^^ But I know personally at 1080p my 2gb 960 has done well for me. I don't have a lot of newer games, but the only game this card has played below 60fps for me was Killing floor 2. Which could be more of a cpu bottleneck, not sure but it still plays at 45+ fps 24/7 with an i3-6100

5 beeps and no signal after adding new ram sticks.

This would be a rare occurrence, but if the voltage on the ram was higher than what your motherboard uses it could fry your cpu

    At a dilemma GTX 960 4GB OR R9 3804GB???

I have a 960, but I would not suggest going for the 4gb version. It is more expensive and doesn't offer much more performance at all at 1080p, and isn't a card for higher resolutions. At that price point the 380 is the better card. The memory bus on the 960 is only built for 2gb, so it can't...

    Newly built PC stopped working

Try a case speaker, usually one comes with I think the motherboard/case not sure. When something goes wrong it produces beep codes that can tell you the problem
