ASUS ROG boards are good looking and great quality!

MSI motherboards aren't that great. ASUS is really good in motherboards and has a great track record

and the PSU is borderline. I have the CX750M PSU. the CX series is not the greatest. so If you get it you might want a little head room.

for the price of the motherboard I would get the ASUS Z97 Maximus VII Hero

try reseating the CPU too. make sure the CPU socket looks like it should as well. look for bent pins. I know the lga1150 socket looks wild and that would be hard to find. But make sure you have the cpu lined up properly. there are two tiny cut outs on the CPU that should line up with two notches...

try a CMOS reset don't know if it will work but worth a shot.

my 4690k during 70% load gaming never goes higher than 40 either. I rarely see this chip even hit 41. But I do have the H100i cpu cooler and run stock speeds.

79 is still really safe on an intel. For AMD that is way to high for safe daily temps.

intel chips have a higher safe zone on temperatures though.

well you do always want a quality name brand PSU like Corsair, Antec, Seasonic, etc. and one with an 80+ rating. Off brand PSU's most likely when pushed to their rated wattage will fail sometimes sooner than later, and sometimes can damage the motherboard or GPU etc. when it does fail with some...

the board is the only factor if your looking to overclock. which you bought a "k" edition CPU which will overclock if you wanted to.

to overclock that CPU you want a Z97 or Z87. But the Z87 would possibly need a bios update to be compatible with the Devils Canyon CPU out of the box.

you know what? I just googled that board again a saw something different that did't look as bad as what I saw the first time. I must have clicked the wrong link or something. that board will do fine at stock CPU speeds. Still wont overclock very well though
