[SOLVED] Advice on upgrading my son's pc

Nice to know and thank you very much! Yeah, I should probably get him a new monitor as well, his brother gave him this one and it's probably older than the PC itself to be honest. Thanks again!

[SOLVED] Advice on upgrading my son's pc

Ok, I'll look at the next gen mobo / CPU. Right now it's only around $724 on newegg, I don't mind spending $800-$1000 if it'll be better / worth it. Thank you very much for the advice / help, much appreciated!

[SOLVED] Should I wait to build a new PC?

His resolution is 1920x1080 , however I should probably get a new one because that Monitor is probably older than his PC to be honest. $800-$1000, maybe a little more if it'll be worth it. Doesn't matter if it's Intel / AMD and I'd like to try to reuse his GPU until prices go back to normal...

[SOLVED] Advice on upgrading my son's pc

Ok, thank you for the reply: I just bought this PSU (Sorry I should have stated that) a few months ago because his old one failed, so the PSU isn't as old as the PC itself (yes, I think it was bought around 2009-20011 if I remember right). May I ask what would you suggest (Sorry this is how I...

[SOLVED] Advice on upgrading my son's pc

Sweet, thank you for the reply! Yeah, you're right I am looking at the m.2 ssd's now and I can get a 1tb pretty cheap that reads 3500mb/s. So, I think it'll be best just to get that and it'll be faster and bigger than both of the other two combined. I just bought the power supply a few months...

[SOLVED] Advice on upgrading my son's pc

P.S. I don't care if it's AMD or Intel, whichever would be best for gaming for this price :)

[SOLVED] Advice on upgrading my son's pc

My son only uses it for school (irrelevant because it's browser based) and GAMING. His rig right now: MB : ASUS TUF SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+ CPU: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0 GHz RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) GPU: GIGABYTE Radeon HD...

[SOLVED] Should I wait to build a new PC?

Well, I do have money, but not so sure I should just toss it around. I mean it's the only reason I have it saved up right now is because I didn't toss it around stupidly. I guess I just got excited and I'm just glad that I am still smart enough to come here for advice :) My wife just said the...

[SOLVED] Should I wait to build a new PC?

True! However, if I did all that I'd just start from scratch and give this one to my son (his is very old - amd 8350cpu / amd 7950 gpu). I'll just wait for the prices to drop or until mine goes out. I guess I panicked when I seen the sg21 / windows 11 videos and thought "Oh, I should...

[SOLVED] Should I wait to build a new PC?

Well, my SSD is 3500mb read/write and that one is 7300mb, so if I upgrade I'd definitely be going for that one. I guess because of mine being 8th gen CPU (regret buying that one instead of the 9th gen) and now they have 11th gen with the possibility of coming out with new ones soon? Mine might...

[SOLVED] Should I wait to build a new PC?

Thank you for the reply, however I don't believe that my mobo will be able to support the 11th gen CPU's. It can only support 8th/9th gen (LGA1151 socket for 9th/ 8th Gen Intel® Core™ desktop processors ). I don't really have a problem with storage (I have 2x Corsair Force MP510 M.2 2280 960GB...
