Tom's Hardware Steam Giveaway - The Witcher 3 + DLC Season Pass

How is being exclusive for VR any different than the VHS/Betamax battle, or BluRay/HDDVD? One always wins out while the other is abandoned. Ultimately the one with higher adoption wins out and in the long run is cheaper for the consumer.

    144hz Triple Setup

Wait until the 34" 3440x1440 IPS curved GSYNC displays come out. This will be very soon.

Need a monitor for FPS gaming with a low budget

A 270X isn't going to get you to 144Hz. Take a look at the LG 29UM67. It's an ultrawide IPS panel that supports FreeSync in the range of 48-75Hz. It might be your ticket to a great gaming experience. I see it on sale all the time and I personally have this monitor. It's fantastic and ultra...

    UltraWide 1080p or 27" 1440p?

That is ALL a waste if you have dual 980Ti's. You want 34" 3440x1440 IPS Curved w/ Gsync. ASUS and ACER have announced theirs offerings. I hear other brands are following on their toes. These should hit shelves very soon. Asus ROG PG34Q ACER X34

    LG 29UM67 worth it?

You'll love it. It really is a great display. The stand is a little short, I had it on 2 books until I attached a VESA mount to my desk and now I can swing it where I like it.

    LG 29UM67 worth it?

I actually just received the LG 29UM67P display as a review item 2 weeks ago. I would COMPLETELY recommend it. Gaming at 21:9 aspect ratio is fantastic. My previous display was a 24" TN panel and I don't think I could go back from 21:9. I usually sell items I review, but I kept this one. The...

Memory recommendation for Intel NUC i7 (NUC5i7RYH)

It shouldn't cause any heat issues, however, with it being an OEM board it may be capped at 1600MHz and not allow you to use the RAM's XMP profile with the higher speed. I used 2 sticks of the below in mine and it works flawless. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DSGLM64

Tom's Hardware Community: It's Hammer Time!

All it needs is a magnetic wand so I can pick up all the screws I drop inside the case all the time.

Installing VMWare on an Intel NUC

Is this a 5th gen NUC. I found the below article helpful. Why are you installing 5.1 instead of 5.5 or 6.0? I installed 6.0 and only had to fix the AHCI driver map item. This article assumes you have certain knowledge already, but I was able to reference other articles to get through the...

Gtx 970 vs 980, Is it worth the money?

And for $150 more than a GTX980 you can get (2) GTX970, and stomp the 980 into the ground. HAHA. Just had to say it. The 980 just isn't worth the big difference in cost over a 970. The only situation I can see is if you are limited to a single card due to motherboard not supporting SLI or power...

    Looking for a New Card

I vote spend the extra cash for a GTX970. I wouldn't even be looking at a 960 unless you were limited by a small power supply. It'll out perform a 290x in most cases and generates less heat and uses less power, which some people don't care about, but just saying. They overclock VERY well, just...

    4k or Curved?

^Freesync, if it does catch on, will take a long time to actually get built into displays to even work. I wouldn't wait for it.

Monitor Refresh Rate and Tearing Questions

Tearing occurs when the graphics card produces a frame and the monitor displays a frame and the update happens sort of in between and out of sync. Turning on VSYNC helps with this in that it makes your graphics card push out frames at the same rate that your displays refreshes. However, this...

    4k or Curved?

There is a lot of personal preference in usage when selecting a monitor. Here is my $.02, which should be taken like I was a wise old owl speaking. I will just quickly review a few points put them in your perspective. 4K: I wouldn't even be looking at this unless you are looking for a large...
