So to keep it short, I had to apply and remove my liquid cooler (corsair H55) is there a specific thermal paste I should use to reapply it, or will the extra bit of cooler master thermal paste I have left over from my 212 work just fine?

I bought an Asus Z97-AR and an i7 4790k. I have it all built and when I power it on everything lights up and the fans spin, but it doesn't post and the CPU LED stays red. I don't know how to go about trouble shooting this problem.
