Build Advice New build after 10 years - midrange

If you go ultrawide and the game doesn't support the resolution (Metal Gear Solid V for example) will play with black bars on the side. Overall most newer title support the ultrawide resolution. Even a lot of older titles support it as well. I have never used the QVL to select RAM. To me it is...

Build Advice New build after 10 years - midrange

That isn't bad. I'd also look to see if there is something that has FreeSync Premium or FreeSync Premium Pro support as that gives you HDR. From what I can see these are some good budget ultrawide monitors if you can find them in Switzerland. PCPartPicker Part List Monitor: Gigabyte G34WQC A...

Build Advice New build after 10 years - midrange

For a monitor I would suggest looking at an ultrawide 3440x1440 monitor instead. It gives you the all the benefits of a dual 1080p setup but without the bezel in the way. I personally have been using one for productivity and gaming for 8 years now and I would never go back to a tradition dual...

Build Advice New build after 10 years - midrange

Sadly pcpartpicker doesn't have Switzerland as a location so I used Germany instead. Overall I would do something like this instead. The 9700X is a very good gaming CPU (I have it in my build and its great). The Super Flower VII is one of the best PSUs you can buy and the 1000W is only like an...

Question Best 'bang for the buck' monitor for a PS5 Pro ?

The brighter the screen the less you will notice glare. However, making a screen brighter does increase power consumption (MLA helps keep that extra power usage lower). That said getting around glare can be as simple as putting up blinds or curtains to cover up the window.

Question Best 'bang for the buck' monitor for a PS5 Pro ?

I have played a lot of video games on my LG C8 and never had burn-in after 6 years. I got the burn-in protection for 5 years with mine and never had to use it so it was a loss of money. The QD-OLED displays are supposed to be brighter and higher color volume. The LG G3 and later series have...

Question Best 'bang for the buck' monitor for a PS5 Pro ?

Your original post said "leftovers or returned" so I took that as extra stock or returned items instead of refurb/display. I personally got an LG C8 (2018 model) in 2019 as it was extra stock that Best Buy was trying to sell. It was 100% worth the money AND it hasn't had a single issue since I...

Question Best 'bang for the buck' monitor for a PS5 Pro ?

IMO you will get the most bang for your buck going with a previous year's TV. Therefore I think going with the LG C3 or Samsung S90C is the way to go. The S90C does have better color calibration than the C3 for out of box usage.

Review AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Review: Stunning gaming performance meets top-tier productivity

The client side (Ryzen 7's or Core Ultra) of CPUs isn't what drives the money for Intel or AMD. These companies make their money off of data center (Epyc or Xeon) CPUs.

Question Persistently low network speeds on PC with a 1 Gbps service ?

The WiFi adapter is only a 1x1 AC so that limits it to 433Mbps. When figuring in overhead, 300Mbps is pretty good. The Ethernet is a different problem. That should be able to handle full speed. Does the Ethernet connect to a switch or directly into the modem? Are you Ethernet setting in...

Review AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Review: Stunning gaming performance meets top-tier productivity

If you took a second to look at the financial reports you would see that your statement is completely bogus. AMD Financial Report Intel Financial Report Note that Intel is the one LOSING money and AMD is MAKING money.

Review AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Review: Stunning gaming performance meets top-tier productivity

In August I upgraded my old desktop from an i7-4770k to an R7 9700X. I kept the GPU during the upgrade, RX6700XT, and I have noticed higher FPS and consistently better lower FPS. Depending on what your current CPU is with something like the 5070Ti will matter quite a bit as to if you see huge...

News Fake Ryzen 7 9800X3D bought from Amazon was actually an old AMD FX chip disguised by IHS sticker

There are a TON of other things wrong with that sticker on the IHS. The print is blurry and not correct, the copyright doesn't have the cicled C and is from 2020, shows being diffused from 2 different locations, has Made In China printed (In 25 years of buying AMD CPUs I've only ever seen Made...

    Question RTX 5090 possible bottleneck

For reference the 5090 was only about 25% faster on average than the 4090 with a 9800X3D at 4k. Going with a 13900k it was only about 20% faster. With you at about 15% faster that is typically within margin of error and says you might only get 5% more going with a 14900k.
