Nevermind, I finally found my answer in a different question, where someone listed what is compatible with a 270x (370 is in the list).

As long as the clock specs are as close as possible, will it work? Also, the vendor doesn't matter aside from their clock rates, right? Finally, do the internal memory clock rates matter in finding the right card?

The only problem with "inserting it upside down" is that there is a "cover" on each stick of the specified ram (either that or a giant cap for all of the internal chips). If you really did manage to shove it in that way, then you have at the least destroyed the ram slots (split the ends apart)...

This has worked so far. Time will tell if that was the real problem, but I was able to install the windows 8.1 64-bit version for my motherboard (Fatal1ty 990FX Killer), and it worked without any issues. I can also use the new XFast RAM feature now, even though I have no current use for it.

I've noticed that on an occasional boot, the f-stream utility works just fine. Settings are remembered, and the motherboard seems to remember them too (the fan settings still apply). My disks were GPT to begin with, since my BIOS requires it. Also, the windows 7 version worked fine in windows...

Nevermind, I solved it myself. Using the factory default reset fixed the problem. Anyone who sees this: please reply so that I can "solve" this.
