well, your cpu might bottleneck some modern card, but that ok untill you get a new cpu , and the amd 7850 is good ,it plays most games at 1080p ultra/high,

Yea it will be fine cause its pcie 3.0 16x then divides into 8x for each slot which is equal to pcie 2.0 16x. so you can run gtx 580 sli.

if your going for AMD then go for the FX 8350 which around 15 % faster that the 8150. The Fx 8350 is good for video editing and etc

if you want you can get this msi amd 7950 which will be much cheaper because its factory refurb. only 250$, and you can save ur self some money and play games at ultra including bf3 at 1080p...

he also might have overclock the gts 450 and it could have given him a boost
