OK thank you very much. Do you recommend any particular features on a PSU or are they all generally safe bets, computer protection-wise? I'm also not sure what the light means...it might have been out for quite some time, even before this incident. I just assumed it indicates it's on.

Thanks for the reply! I just mean the IKEA four-way extension plug I use for the pc, monitor and one studio monitor looked like it didn't work. But it actually does.

Update: The extension lead is not blown, just the light on it is.
