    a decent 300w PSU is all that's needed with a bit of room to spare. Peak power consumption on a rig like that would be approx 200 watts, due in large part to that Pentium D.

    Intel CPUs simply don't die due to heat, over voltage is what kills 'em. But if you really think you killed it, I'd be happy to take it off your hands for the price of shipping! Now is not a great time to be upgrading the core components. Sandy bridge is still DOA, and bulldozer is an unknown...

    The problem seems to be the builder. Anyone worth his salt would not be replacing 3 mobos in one build. Needs to do more cerebral activity before blind parts replacement.

    Back in the original Pentium days, 1995, Intel was the only real company to make high end chips. AMd produced the k5 initially and it could not compete with the pentium. The next cpu AMd released was the k6, which had better performance than the original pentium but lagged in clock per clock...
