Looking for DVD that plays various video formats

Phontonboy: That's a lot of information and I appreciate it. Since I am almost 70, I was looking for a "magical" device just to plug into the tv and play avi and mkv for the grandkids. I'll look into all you have suggested. Thank you so much for the time you spent on this and for all you posted.

Devices are no longer working with new motherboard (Mic and mouse)

Thank you so much for this post. I swapped out the mouse and the other one works just fine scrolling. I tried the old one on my laptop with the same result, no scrolling. First time I've ever had that happen. I hope you have a problem free day because you have just solved mine.

    Thank you so very much

I am going to be 70 on my next birthday. My dinosaur frankenpc gave out once more and I refuse to fix it again. usb mouse dropping

I have a Biostar A760G M2+. I know it's old; but, so am I. On a reboot, the mouse will work for only a short time. I cannot even get it up long enough to see if it is the drivers. I have noticed, while trying to reinstall Windows Vista, that the keyboard will go, too. The Windows Vista disk...

    Replacement dvd device

I have a Toshiba Satellite C655D-S50853. It indicates that the dvd device is a TS-L633C ATA. I need to replace this but the only ones I have found are SATA. Anyone have any ideas about this?

Laptop repair after spilling liquid on it

No, I didn't do that. I was seriously ill, in the hospital, at the time. I have never had a desktop that I did not build myself. I thought to experiment with the construction of laptops by attempting to repair this one, one step at a time.

Laptop repair after spilling liquid on it

Is there a step by step guide to determining the damage that is caused by doing this, where to start in repairing it, and what components to test and how to test them? Thanks.
