if you're on a budget go with the E8400, get a x38 or x48 board as they will be best for overclocking and I do agree with ASUS, Gigabyte boards are good too and a little cheaper from what I read, but my last 2 build have been with ASUS and both have been great. Definitely get a good aftermarket...

that is a strange issue. you may want to try and flash/floppy update the bios and see if that helps. Is your Motherboard jumper free? if not then check to make sure all your jumpers are correctly placed.

I do have a question about airflow. The side fan is set to exhaust, the back fan is intake, but the CPU fan is blowing against the fan in the back. Is that OK or should I change the back to exhaust and the side for intake? there is another 120m in the font blowing on the hard drive case but...

we're going to upgrade to vista 64 when CS4 comes out, already had XP Pro so figured it would do for the time being. Will be adding another 4g of that RAM when we go 64 bit too. Here are some pics of the finished product.

luckily since I was just putting the machine together the thermal grease had never been heated up and it came right off with the q-tip...i picked up an Arctic pro 7 today and a little tube of xigmatex grease sicne they were out of artic silver. Hopefully the system will post and boot smoothly...

picked up an arctic pro 7, that should do the trick.....and Fry's sucks...just had to throw that in, their CPU cooler selection was terrible and almost all open boxes....went to Micro Center and they had a pretty sweet selection.
