News Nvidia to axe Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta GPUs with end of driver support — 580 series drivers will be the last to support GTX 900 and 1000 cards

Not only will I say that Pascal is no longer relevant, but Turing is also no longer relevant. The performance jump between Turing and Ampere is huge. An argument might be made for the 2080 Ti, because of the 11gb of VRAM, but testing is showing that even 12gb cards like the 4070 and 5070 are...

News Nvidia to axe Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta GPUs with end of driver support — 580 series drivers will be the last to support GTX 900 and 1000 cards

No. Planned obsolescence is what Apple does, when they drop support after 3 years to force you to spend thousands of dollars to buy a new Mac or iPhone. Pascal will have had 10 years of support by the time the last driver drops, and Maxwell will have had even more than that. 10+ years of support...

News AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT launches on June 5, starting at $299

No, they could not have sold 16gb cards for the same price as 8gb ones. More memory costs more money. They are not in the business of giving things away for free, just because you think they should. You're also missing who the market is for the 8gb cards. At 1080p60, and in eSports games, you...

News AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT launches on June 5, starting at $299

For some people, $50 is a lot of money. You can buy another game with that money. Not everyone needs high refresh rates, high resolutions, or all the eye candy turned on. Those are luxuries, not necessities. I can guarantee you that those 8gb cards, from either brand, will not be collecting dust...

News AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT launches on June 5, starting at $299

This card is going to be a hit for AMD, assuming they can push enough to retail on launch. If they launch with insufficient stock, the scalpers are going to get them all, and the rest of us will have to wait until they start shipping in big enough quantities where the scalpers can't absorb them all.

News AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT launches on June 5, starting at $299

Everyone said the RTX 3050 would be DOA, but it's currently #6 in the graphics card rankings on Steam. The RTX 4060 is #3. Hell, the 4gb GTX 1650 is still hanging on at #4, and the 6gb RTX 2060 is desperately clinging to a spot in the top 10, and the RTX 3070 is at #9. Apparently, a lot of...

News AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT launches on June 5, starting at $299

A lot of folks are saying that the 9060 XT is equal to the RTX 4070 in performance, including TechPowerUp. If that's the case, then it absolutely crushes the 5060 Ti. The 16gb version will also sell for a lower price than the 4070, assuming you can even still find any 4070's at retail, and...

News AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT launches on June 5, starting at $299

9060 XT is in a completely different performance class from the 7600 XT. That alone makes it worth a $20 price increase.

News AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT launches on June 5, starting at $299

Because not everyone is a professional gamer. A lot of people also can't afford a high end card, or a 4k gaming monitor with a high refresh rate. If I had to guess, I would say that 1080p60 is still a very common resolution, and you don't need gobs of VRAM for that. Whenever I see tests...

News AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT launches on June 5, starting at $299

This could be the AMD card that finally pulls me away from Nvidia for a while. If it can match the RTX 4070, while using less power, and with an additional 4gb of VRAM, then this is going to be the card for me. Better still, it's supposed to use a single, 8-pin power connector, which has been a...

News PhysX feature unlocked for RTX 5090 with RTX 3050 'helper' to enable full performance

I don't think it's worth the extra power consumption, or heat generation, to dedicate a 2080 to PhysX. Don't forget that you're going to need a pretty hefty PSU, with lots of PCIe connectors, to run the 2080 in conjunction with whatever your primary GPU is. The 3050 6gb can handle it just fine...

News Nvidia starts phasing out Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta GPUs — GeForce driver support status unclear

The problem is that what I see happening, increasingly, is that games are requiring certain driver revisions just to get them to run. If your drivers are too old, they either won't run, or will have problems if they do run. I have gotten popups already, on some of my older PC's, telling me to...

Question Computer ran fine, upgraded with a used GPU (Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti) and PSU (EVGA 750W) from my friend who shipped them; having issues now

Don't understand why you would consider a 1080 Ti as an upgrade in 2025. There is no longer a justification for using a Pascal card this far out. Even the Titan XP is weak against modern games. Return it to your friend, and get something newer.

Question Fallout NV is always either freezing or crashing to the desktop ?

Does anyone else have this problem and is there a solution? I have already tried uninstalling / reinstalling. I also have the latest video drivers.

News Nvidia Blackwell RTX Pro with up to 96GB of VRAM — even more demand for the limited supply of GPUs

I saw on wccftech that it's only 5% faster than a 5090. I saw somewhere else that it's supposed to sell for $10-15k. 5x-7.5x the price, for a 5% gain. No, thanks.
