Question Computer ran fine, upgraded with a used GPU (Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti) and PSU (EVGA 750W) from my friend who shipped them; having issues now

Don't understand why you would consider a 1080 Ti as an upgrade in 2025. There is no longer a justification for using a Pascal card this far out. Even the Titan XP is weak against modern games. Return it to your friend, and get something newer.

Question Fallout NV is always either freezing or crashing to the desktop ?

Does anyone else have this problem and is there a solution? I have already tried uninstalling / reinstalling. I also have the latest video drivers.

News Nvidia Blackwell RTX Pro with up to 96GB of VRAM — even more demand for the limited supply of GPUs

I saw on wccftech that it's only 5% faster than a 5090. I saw somewhere else that it's supposed to sell for $10-15k. 5x-7.5x the price, for a 5% gain. No, thanks.

Question Motherboard doesn’t have 24 pin slot

This is why you have to do some research before attempting to turn an office PC into a gaming rig. Honestly, it isn't even worth it, anymore. Look at the prices for a used Ryzen 5 3600, or 10th gen Core i5 gaming PC. I've seen them as low as $300, with 16 or 32gb and a graphics card, and it's...

Question My RX 6600 XT is giving me 10-30% less FPS compared to my friends RTX 2060S ?

Esports titles are often more CPU dependent than GPU dependent.

Question How do I buy a GPU on launch day before the bots and scalpers?

They launch with low stock, deliberately, to pump up demand, then trickle out more, to keep demand high. If everyone was able to get one on the first day, the buzz would die down in a week, and then sales would plummet.

News Asus comments on Q-Release Slim damaging GPUs, issues official removal guidelines

This new slot "feature" is going to come back to bite them when graphics cards start failing, and the GPU vendors refuse to RMA them because of the physical damage, that is not a result of a manufacturing defect. Asus is going to have a massive class action on their hands to replace all the...

    Question I have a 2070 GPU with 16GB of VRAM ?

It probably wouldn't matter even if it did have 16gb of physical memory. I have a Firepro W8100, which is basically an R9 290 with 8gb of VRAM, instead of the usual 4gb, and when I tested it by cranking up the visuals to use as much of the VRAM as possible, it became almost unusable. The extra...

News January Windows security updates are breaking audio on PCs using external DACs

You couldn't expect Microsoft to keep supporting USB 1.0 devices indefinitely. It's time to move on.

    Question Buying Second Hand GPU's

Someone selling mass quantities of used graphic cards, and they're not a recycler, should be a huge red flag. There were a lot of mining farms being broken up when Ethereum stopped using proof of work, and there are still some sellers trying to liquidate those cards today. And include their past...

News Sam Altman said startups with only $10 million were 'totally hopeless' competing with OpenAI, DeepSeek's disruption says otherwise

In 1943, there literally was a market for only 5 computers. Computers were as big as houses, and consumed a power plants worth of electricity every day, in 1943, and were insanely expensive. There wern't even many governments on the planet that could afford them, nevermind corporations, and...

News Best Buy lists RTX 5080s from Gigabyte at up to 40% higher than MSRP — just one model at $999

The MSRP quoted by Nvidia is always for base model cards, not custom models. You're making it sound like Best Buy is scalping, when they're not. The prices for the custom models may well be appropriate. Higher factory clocks, more efficient coolers, and other features like lighting, or custom...
