Thanks guys for responding so fast! This was a one time thing and i am getting my case very soon so i wont be doing this anymore but in the future, i will try to find an old power switch.

hey guys my motherboard works perfectly fine and there was no smell or noise. It was just a little spark when i tried to turn off the motherboard by shorting it again (could have just turned off the power supply). i used a paper clip which could have caused me to accidently touch the speaker...
