Have an external hard drive (SSD) from an old laptop, it was working fine as storage until I downloaded a program that to install, turned the hard drive into a CD-ROM drive. Now can't access anything else that was on it. Tried recovery software but none of them recognize the drive. In windows...

External hard drive was turned into CD Drive by some stupid software. Can't format via disk management or cmd. Appears as a CD-ROM drive under device manager. All the software I tried doesn't even recognize it. help please!!
