Question Mixing 2 Different RAM sticks

Can I mix two different ram sticks? I have 2 8gb 3200mhz corsair sticks and 2 Ballistix Sport 4gb 2666mhz And if its possible, is it useful or should I stay with 16gb 3200mhz.
