Ok, Opty 170 (939) pulls 90a. FX-62 AM2 pulls 90.4a. Both cpu's draw this much power at max load, of course. My question is, from which voltages does the CPU get it's power from? I mean, there is no 1.35v rail. So the voltage regulators change and moderate the voltage for the cpu, but what...
I had the same problem for the longest time with my old P3 440bx mobo. I just couldn't figure it out. I pulled it apart piece by piece so many times to replace stuff of try different things that I overlook a screw for one of the mobo stand-offs. On every mobo I've seen, the screws that go to...
Are you serious? I posted this in an Overclocking Forum and your asking me why push my card? Are you sure your in the right spot? With that thinking no one that owns a Core Duo would overclock it, because they simply kill all the benchmarks at stock speeds. Once again, some idiot in a THG...
Has anyone that owns a 7950gx2 got a decent overclock using air yet?
By decent I mean some past the marks left by a 7900GTX. Something past 650mhz on the core and 800mhz on the memory. Mine holds stable at 620/830. I can't seem to get anything past 620 because I think Coolbits is holding me...
I've found the best thing to make the best of the overclock is to reach 2.6 on the core, keep the DDR divider at 333mhz, and keep the HTT at 4x.
What you end up with is DDR at 400mhz, HTT at a little over 1040, and a core at 2.6ghz. So, you get 600mhz on two cores. 1.2ghz clock increase. Not...
Disable any "quick-boot" feature. Enable one or two extended tests during post. The delay should allow for enough time for the drive to spin up before it trys to load the OS.
120mm side case fan with custom shroud to blast the heatsinks. Forget water, with this simple setup you can drop your GPU temps below 50c. Do it and let me know your max oc, mine has not topped out yet and I'm at 630 core 1680 mem.
As far as the 3dMark06 result, I feel your pain. As a matter of fact, the first time I ran it on my 3800 X2 was last night and I was blown away with the 1fps on the CPU test.
The vCore thing. Get your clock speed where you want it and run Prime or something for a long time to stress it...
2.4ghz is an easy hit if you drop your DDR down to 333. 2.6 isn't too hard if you loosen your timings and toss a little more volts at the DDR. Getting past 2.6 and still making a performance inprovment is a different story. Sure with right settings your core clock could be 4.0, but the HTT is...
I know you can get a 10 meter cable and run like seven things on the one cable, if you go SCSI Ultra320. Your talking thirty feet and seven super fast somethings!
Who cares? Why wait or hold your breath? FX-64 will just be another pro in a benchmark lineup that doesn't even come close to C2D. Wait some more time for the K8L and then Intel's comeback and then get whatever AMD throws back at them. Or you can have my old 8088 now.
