    SOLVED WINDOWS 7 Pro x64 is a drastic improvement, everything is fixed and sounds great. also ( I had the wrong RCA to 3.5mm adapater cable, my version was mono, i switched to a stereo one and sound improved drastically)

    couldnt conquer windows XP driver issues. switched my RCA to 3.5mm adapter cable; from MONO to STEREO. Installed windows 7. RECORDING SOUNDS GREAT NOW!!! everything sounds great ^____^.

    Actually the card is... [ sound blaster x-fi xtreme audio ] >> http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Labs-SB0790-Blaster-Xtreme/dp/B000IZC0GO and yes, it is old... I may return it, my onboard audio is HD but all audio cards are giving me problems right now. this may lead me to update to windows 7.

    windowx xp sp3 gives me line-in issues with my sound recordings... the audio is too low and it spikes based on whatever else im playing... sounds like a driver issue with XP, as sp3 doesnt even have proper realtek HD drivers. what do you think... will I get improved performance from my line-in...

    I found out that there are problems with Realtek audio HD driver and windows service pack3 I found a patch for this. but ultimately the result is the same. line-in volume levels are too low, and they spike when I play other audio. I hate to have to keep dealing with low audio levels forever...
