    Antec SmartPower PSU

Sony... It also gives me trouble when rendering video and burning DVDs. Those variables kind of steered me away from blaming the 550. I think I mentioned that, but maybe not... I'm going to double check to make sure I can't bend that card enough to fit into another X1 slot :) Thanks.

    Antec SmartPower PSU

BustedSony... I should have mentioned the 550 I have is PCIeX1. And the motherboard layout will only let it go into the one it's in. Sounds like a fun idea, though.

Yeah, I ran that, no errors... see previous post.

    Antec SmartPower PSU

It's been a while, but I finally got around to installing the PSU suggested in this thread. Sad to say it is worse now than before. It runs idle just fine; however, after 1 minute of using the TV tuner, the thing hard locks. Every time. I'm trying to render some video and burn a DVD to see...

    Antec SmartPower PSU

Do the currents from the two 12V rails combine to make the total amperage available for all 12V devices? Or are the individual rails dedicated only to specific devices? So my question is really whether all of those 36 amps are really available... If I'm freezing up on 17 amps for 12V2...

    Antec SmartPower PSU

Sorry, yeah, it is a Sonata II. Of course, there's more to it than what is going on with the fan... Built the machine a year ago for home video editing and TV. The TV functionality was always a bit flaky... Recently, however, I've begun seeing system hangs when rendering video and burning...

    Antec SmartPower PSU

I have an Antec case with a 450W Smartpower PSU. This thing has two fans, one on the interior of the case, and another on the exterior of the case. I have not seen the fan on the exterior of the case turn. Ever. However, the fan on the interior does. Does this seem unusual?

Video Editing PC - Will this do?

Update: Computer assembled and running. And the case is very pretty, too. I even stuck the little Antec logo on it. Lotsa extra cables. I think I might use them to decorate the Christmas tree this year. Stared at "Verifying DMI Pool Data" several times for several minutes each time until...

    WD Hard Drive from Newegg

Has anyone else purchased the following hard drive from Newegg? Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive ? I received 2 of these today, and neither one of them was in a box. They were in bubble wrap... is this because it's an OEM drive? Thanks!

Video Editing PC - Will this do?

I have a little external do-jobber. If it's a nightmare to deal with, then I'll look to put something under the hood. Cross your fingers for me...

Video Editing PC - Will this do?

Thanks a bunch for your recommendations. Now if only my order would get off of Step 3, I'd be just giddy... And so would my wife with that pretty Sonata II case! I'm getting a little jealous, the way she looks at that case... I think she might have saved it as a favorite. Now I have to go...

Mesa - Looks like there are some 1394 / 800 cards out there. Prices aren't too bad, but I might wait until they cram some bonus USB ports on the cards. Most of them have 2 B ports and 1 A port, but no USB.

And with the Epox board I come out $10 ahead. Thanks for the pointer! So no one told me to avoid the Antec case / supply combo... My wife likes it better than the Cooler Master case--dare I succumb to the pressure?

bwier - on the HD, would the same hold for the WD Caviar with 16MB cache? It's about $50 cheaper than the 300 GB Seagate, and had friendlier reviews... Could get a third WD for just more than the two 300 GB Seagates if I was hungry for disk space.

Video Editing PC - Will this do?

Yeah, bummer on the firewire. That's why I'm going for a pci firewire card. That should do the trick, shouldn't it?
