News Linux boot time reduced by 0.035 seconds thanks to a one-line kernel patch — aligning the slab in the ACPI code makes Linux boot faster

As a diehard Windows gamer, I tried to make a transition to Linux. I exploit virtually every available Windows feature to make things easier for me. And again, I am a gamer, which is still not Linux's strong suit. But my last time trying this was like over 10 years ago, so I wanted to try...

News Zen 5 SMT-focused testing suggests Intel made a mistake ditching Hyper-Threading on Lunar Lake

Clickbait article at its best Klotz. But the fools will debate it.

"...We think people buy high-end cards to be able to crank up all the settings, and there are RT-enabled games where the 4080 Super delivers a playable result while the 7900 XTX does not." (y) (y) (y)

Even a regular 7950X3D is a very impressive, sophisticated processor. If you want "it all", gaming, professional workloads, it delivers like no others. I am looking forward to seeing the 8000 series and its comparative performance. Maybe an 8800X3D?

News Not all RTX 40-series Super GPUs use the new 12V-2x6 connector — new images of 16-pin "H++" power connector emerge

I have an MSI 4090 and an ATX 3.0 PSU. I love the clean single cable and never had a problem with both on my daily driver gaming PC. This issue was way overhyped by tech sites like this and by harnessing the GPU price compliant whining chorus when the 4000 series launched.

The five best AMD CPUs of all time: From old-school Athlon to brand-new Ryzen

Very informative piece that goes back down memory lane. I remember for quite some time when INTEL was THE CPU brand name. The trusted, "you can't go wrong..." choice. But AMD delivered the 64bit era to desktop PCs, and made multi-cores both affordable and common. Versus Intel trying to milk...

News Optane Lives! This 1.5TB SSD is a great Cyber Monday Deal at an all-time low $399

I've owned 2 Optane drives and I'm a gamer 90% of the time. Random reads and writes do not noticeably improve the consumer PC user experience. Random iOPS improves the opening of numerous small files like Excel Word documents, photos, etc. Where Optane did help significantly was on server...
