Question R9 290x with a loud Reference cooler...

OK, I've repasted the card. I didn't replace the thermal pads, they were all present and seemed to be in good shape to me. The card still idles at 39C, and Thief 2014's Benchmark feature brings it up to about 53C. Also, I found this small switch on the side, the side that faces out of the side...

Question R9 290x with a loud Reference cooler...

I bought the card off Craigslist. The man I bought it from said he replaced the thermal paste recently. (Yeah, I know...) I don't mind doing it myself, but if I do I'd like to replace the thermal pads as well, just to be on the safe side. I don't know where to source them from without opening...

Question R9 290x with a loud Reference cooler...

Hi. I have an XFX Radeon R9 290x 4GB card with a reference cooler, purchased used. It works just fine, I've used Afterburner to set a decent fan curve, I think, and limited the temperature to 75C. Plus it's in a Coolermaster HAF X case with the side intake fan blowing on it. It's still very loud...

Question Razer Mamba 2012 has button issues

No, I went around with their tech support uninstalling and reinstalling Synapse, removing 'ghost' devices from Device Manager, all that. I plugged it into a laptop that had no drivers for it and it behaved the same way.

Question Razer Mamba 2012 has button issues

So today I brought my laptop out of hibernation, like usual. Yesterday my mouse was working fine. Today the buttons on my Razer Mamba 2012 are behaving oddly. The right mouse button acts like the left mouse button, clicking the scroll wheel acts like the right mouse button, and the left mouse...

Question Where can I find a driver and/or firmware for a Panasonic UJ 232A drive?

It hits all the marks for me, on paper. Is there any way to test the travel or read on the laser assembly? Maybe it just needs lubrication? I ran into a similar problem with an Xbox 360 drive a few years ago, but I can't remember what I used. The problem was afterwards the laser height had to be...

Question Where can I find a driver and/or firmware for a Panasonic UJ 232A drive?

OK. I've tried taking the faceplate off, no improvement there. I've swabbed the lenses with 91% isopropyl alcohol, and no change. There's some up/down play in the tray when it's all the way out, I think that may be a symptom of something "unfixable". You may be right that it's on it's way out...

Question Where can I find a driver and/or firmware for a Panasonic UJ 232A drive?

Oh no... The faceplate for my laptop didn't fit the new drive, so I bought one that would. I wonder if it isn't pushing the disc tray askew? That would explain quite a bit. I'll try removing it later and see if that helps.

Question Where can I find a driver and/or firmware for a Panasonic UJ 232A drive?

I've uninstalled both devices and rebooted. So far it has played an audio CD and can 'see' a blu ray disc, I can look at the files and directories but VLC doesn't want to play it. I have a DVD in there now and it doesn't see the disc at all. Trying the audio CD again it doesn't see it anymore. I...

Question Where can I find a driver and/or firmware for a Panasonic UJ 232A drive?

Here's how the drive shows up with a DVD in it: View: https://imgur.com/aj5vtFw (I'm sorry, the page is giving me trouble and won't let me insert the picture in the usual way.) Right after this screenscot was taken I tried playing the disc in VLC, it wouldn't load and Disk Management is stuck...

Question Where can I find a driver and/or firmware for a Panasonic UJ 232A drive?
