    SSD's and Antivirus

I don't know anything about how antivirus programs work, but is there any chance scanning a solid state drive will write information on the drive? I'm thinking about getting a new SSD, but I want to know if installing Ad-aware will have any negative side effects. Thanks in advance.

How to configure drives on P6X58D system

Performance vs. Reliability is your own personal preferance. As for Windows 7, I'd put that on the WD1002FAEX so you can RAID your identical drives.

    $1,200 for a gaming rig

I'm not a gamer, so I could be wrong, but... I'm pretty sure most games won't take advantage of a hexacore processor. Get an SSD.

Solution for Photoshop & 3D modeling

If you're going to gradually build your system, start out with a mobo that can support all the features you want. ASUS has some good workstation motherboards. And you're right. You do need a good processor for rendering.

First PC Build, looking to make a WorkStation-quality PC

If you're using CS5, I'd recommend RAM. And lots of it. Get at least 8 GB. And if you want to spend $300 on a motherboard, get one with dual processor support.

    Your ideal (realistic) build

If I had $4000? Probably dual X5680's Throw in a high end Quadro card and more RAM than I could ever probably use. And while I'm at it, maybe a couple of new SSDs.

    What to upgrade?

Sweet setup! I would take a look at the Nvidia Quadro line of graphics cards. The only other practical thing to do would be maxing out your memory. (32GB for the 490) Is this for CAD?
