OP - By the way, in BIOS, I don't think it can see the hard drive, should there be some numbers next to it, there isnt. In which case it's definitely dead, also it makes no noise either!

Will try to condense this as much as possible. Acer laptop just under 1 yr old. OS windows 8.1. Few weeks ago at my peril, downloaded windows 10. Worked on it few a few hours. Next day, laptop wouldn't boot "no bootable device." Co-incidence? Loaded windows media creation tool onto USB but still...
