Computer intermittently locks up and requires manual restart.

As soon as I can I'm trying out another PSU. I always wear headphones while on the computer so I haven't noticed this before, but every time I load into a game the PSU is making a bunch of chirping noises. The fan is on, so I'm thinking some of the capacitors are having a failure.

@Jo_Hardy, yeah same thing for me dude except I haven't noticed any purple squares or that it has eventually turned off. Usually I turn it off pretty quick because I'm not sure if any components could be getting damaged or not. I also tied my GTX 970 with fishing line because the card sags. I...

Yeah sorry I meant 8GB. I have 4x2GB and 2x8Gb. I'll give one of the 8GB a shot and see where we are. I really appreciate you sticking around through all this. :)

You think I should try running just one of the Vengeance 4g stick and see how it works with only 1 stick of installed? I think I'll RMA motherboard any way I've thought it was the problem the whole time just hard to troubleshoot.

No errors on the 10 passes of stick 4 in slot B2, placed sticks 1 and 4 (both scanned and found no errors) in slots A1 B1, computer still freezes. I haven't tried the Vengeance ram yet, I'm thinking of taking it into a shop tomorrow.

Well I was thinking that was the issue, but I'm on pass 6/10 on the slot that I thought was the problem and I have no errors yet. If the Vengeance RAM was in slots A2 and B2 and there was a lock up of the pc I would think one of this slots would be causing the error. If no error comes up on...

Computer intermittently locks up and requires manual restart.

So I tested all the RAM sticks so far in slot A2 which is second from the processor, but the recommended DIMM for 1 stick by the user manual. I wrote a number on the original 4 sicks of ram 1,4 no errors 2,3 errors. The RAM I tried was Corsair Vengence 2x8GB 1866mhz in slot A2 B2 as said in the...

I have ran 3 out of 4 sticks of ram in the same slot. 1st stick 4 passes- 0 errors 2nd stick 4 passes- 7 errors 3rd stick 4 passes- 1 error All of the errors are on the hammering pins section of the memtest. I am going to run the 4th stick overnight. I also tried two new sticks of ram that...

Also, you think the RAM/DIMM slots could be the issue even though the computer loads to OS. Most articles I have read are just attempting to get the PC to post.

So I'm running a 10x pass on with one stick in.. Should I run 10 pass for every slot or just switch the sticks out in one slot? I have the stick in the proper slot as according to the manual for 1 stick of ram.

That does sound to be the hard part.. if I try known good RAM in the slots and the problem does not persist, could that rule out the slots as well? Or is it a best idea to run the memtest first? Also, should I try the same stick in every slot or how would you position it? I really appreciate...

So ran memtest64 overnight and came back with about 60 errors. I didn't think to write it down, but most of the error codes were not the expected codes. I'm assuming it is safe to say the RAM is bad?

Oh of course not, I'll make sure it will be compatible before trying to place his PSU in my computer. I don't remember the exact model right now, but I can post it on here tomorrow. That RAM I'm pretty sure is mine, it looks identical and is 1333 2gb which mine are. The timing on mine are...
