Had the same issue with my Asus P8Z68-V running windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and I disabled C3 and C6 reporting to the OS under Advanced / CPU Configuration last settings on that page. After the reboot NO EEEEEEEEEE noise anymore. Asus should fix this crap. This is a nice MOBO when it works...
