Both are separate. The 5.1 has an amp inside of the subwoofer that outputs to 5 speakers, the Sony is an older radio/cassete/line system with it's own 2 speakers which I use as PC speakers/monitors. Both have their own connectors for inputs and outputs for their speakers.
