Question ASUS P8Z68-V GEN3 only detects 8gb of ram

After testing, found out that if I install two stick to the same channel, only one is detected. I wonder if there is some kind of setting in the bios that limits the channel bandwith to only one stick?

Question ASUS P8Z68-V GEN3 only detects 8gb of ram

It did show total memory as 16g before, the board was not in use for around a week. Booted it today to stress test it(going to sell the system), then realised that only 8g was showing :D I still do wonder if it's related to the VGA light issue somehow, since it did show 16g before that

So I have different sticks of ram with the same spec, totalling 4x4gb of ram. I have tried everything from reseating the cpu to trying every stick on every lane, but with ANY configuration, the board refuses to recognise more than 8gb of ram. After that, I would buy first a gpu like 1650 super or rx 580 8gb. If the games perform well, then you should keep that setup...

yeah, at least 256gb of ssd storage would probably be good for a boot drive. I personally have Intel ssd pro 1500 series 256gb as my boot drive, and two 1tb hdd.

    [SOLVED] Upgrading Ryzen 3 2200G

if your motherboard supports 3th gen ryzen, then ryzen 5 3600x is probably the best pick. If your motherboard only supports 1th and 2th gen ryzen, then ryzen 7 2700x. Both are overclockable.
