Buy 1070 now or wait for next gen equivalent

The 1060 does just ok. I mainly overwatch but just got a 1080p 144hz monitor and I’m having to drop down to mid (high selection) graphics to maintain 144hz with dips in firefights. So I need to get my desktop back up anyway. I didn’t want to just get another 1060 m, but to your point. If I...

    Nintendo Switch on (PC) Monitor

Can you plug the AUX cord into the switch’s headphone port? Or is the headphone port covered up when placed in the dock? You may need to just use the audio out from your monitor and get a different Bluetooth speaker that can adjust volume on the speaker itself

    oil in water

Not head gaskets. Head gaskets have have a couple high pressure oil passages but are mostly surrounded by coolant/water. If you had blown head gaskets then you'd have white smoke coming out the tailpipe and water/coolant in the oil crankcase. Open your oil cap. If you have residue that looks...

Advice for Asrock Z77 extreme4 memory upgrade

Whatever ram matches the speed of your ram currently Imo. Anything greater than 8gb is really for multi tasking and multiple apps running while youngame if you close all your apps before gaming then you may not notice a big difference in performance between 8 and 16gb

Twin Frozr VI for CPU cooling?

A low profile CPU cooler is the best route But if you're persistent on using your gpu cooler. The easiest way may be to desolder any capacitors below the socket and relocate them with wiring. And use a PCI-e cable to relocate your gpu

Are these monitors a good choice?

The Samsung curved monitor is VESA compatible. The round plate on the back that the arm mounts to can be removed and a supplied VESA adapter can be placed there

    Number of fans vs placement

+1 that you should have more fans on intake than exhaust exhaust. Reason being is that you want positive air pressure inside your case to prevent air being sucked in from an unfiltered crack in the case. ideally, unless you have a radiator at the top or the back that needs a fan directly on it...

    Monitor choices for my setup

depends on if you play competitive FPS or not. IMO 144hz on an FPS is a life changer. RPG games that don't need such a high refresh rate I would vote for 1440p though and maybe 27inch instead. racing games are a toss up as 144hz would really be noticeable at high speed racing but 1440p would...

Not getting 60hz on 60hz monitor

I would double check with your HDMI cable. I'm not sure but apparently there are differences between HDMI 1.4 and 2.0 cables (the 2.0 being able to carry more bandwidth. Also, whatever GPU you're using. Double check if the port on the GPU is HDMI 2.0. all the hardware used must be HDMI 2.0...
